Garret Smith found out this interesting rumor about a possible VoIP support on the latest PSP firmware (v3.10). It seems that there’s a hidden Skype module somewhere…

Is it a rumor ? Maybe yes, maybe not. In the past I had written about a possible Video over IP service on the Sony PSP.

I own a Sony PSP myself, so it would be great to try a service like that. I wonder if this is something limited to a sort of video chat during multiplayer gaming or something more.

I look forward to it. My bet ? It’s a fake that Skype is the client, but I’m pretty sure that the Sony PSP will support VoIP in the near future.

Well, with the announcement by Nintendo that the Nintendo DS will have VoIP capabilities for their upcoming Pokemon games, other competitors in the gaming market are sure to follow suit.
