After some rumors of the past weeks, now it’s official: Skype is going to launch their first mobile phone in partnership with 3 UK. But there is more.

LONDON (Reuters) – EBay division Skype and mobile phone group 3 have launched a mobile handset that allows Skype users to make free Internet calls to each other while on the move.
The companies said on Monday the new 3 Skypephone could also send free Skype instant messages, and that they hoped to sell “several hundred thousand” units worldwide in the fourth quarter of this year.
The new Skypephone will be available on November 2nd at about the equivalent of $ 102. It will be free for 3′s customers who have a contract with the company. You can find details on the rates and plans here.

You can already find some details on the phone at this link:
As you can notice, there is an italian version of this site as well: the 3Skypephone will be available in Italy as well, even if it’s not that clear when.

The 3Skypephone will be available in three colors.

The 3Skypephone is also “Web 2.0 enabled” and offers some shortcuts to the most popular web 2.0 services like YouTube and Facebook:

I think that this is a big move by the VoIP leader. After many concerns in regards of the lack of a client for mobile phones like Nokia ones, this move should demonstrate that Skype is making big moves and surely way ahead from the competition.
