Don Thorson dropped me an email today to inform that Ribbit, the new Voice 2.0 platform whose SDK and API have been unveiled on Dec 13th in San Francisco, is now launching.

The first screenshots and slides available in the press kit are very impressive. Here I just posted a few, but I recommend to take a look at www.ribbit.com that is online already (not yet when Don sent me the email). There are also some videos to watch.

The scheme that caught my attention most is the following:

In a nutshell, Ribbit’s Open API let developers to configure different combinations of Origination / Termination in order to complete the session. That is, from one network to another and vice-versa.

Here are some screenshot of the “official” Ribbit interface. Being based on Flex/Flash, developers can easily create their own, thank to the powerful tools that Flash brings.

Different versions are available, for consumers (“Ribbit for Everyone”) as well as business and developers. An interesting integration with Salesforce.com gives you an idea of the powerful platform behind the scenes.

In conclusion, Ribbit is now my #1 company to watch for 2008. I’m really interested to try it out as soon as my beta application is accepted. I now know the reason why Don couldn’t join me for dinner while I was in Palo Alto… he was very busy. It was worth it, definitely.

Wow! Great post and very insightful.
I can tell you put a lot of effort into this.
Can't wait to keep reading your posts and happy holidays!
I can't wait to get our Pre-Lit Christmas tree out and start trimming it.

I have a hard time changing the bulbs on my Christmas Lights. I don't know about learning yet another platform.

Oh this is so cool. I hope I get one of these under my artificial Christmas trees this year. Very nice :)
