Yea just ask where are the universal versions of acrobat reader, flash, shockwave, etc... are???

THey have been able to make universal binaries for atleast 2 years now and these products should have been one of the first and you would the most simplest to port.

Shockwave 11 just got released Universally, the other day.....hopefully the others are close to release as well!!

Yes, everyone is aware of the speed issues with Aperture 1.x. Aperture 2.x is a much different (i.e. better) product. Lightroom was certainly off to a better start, but they're currently behind Aperture at the moment. Aperture 2.1's new plug-in architecture makes the product even more compelling as it reduces the need to go to Photoshop. Adobe seems to be afraid of cannibalizing it's own product line with this regard.

Anyway, there are compelling reasons to use either product. I just wouldn't base my decision on perceived future updates, etc. One could easily take Adobe to task and ask them how long version 2 will be in beta. Version 1 was in beta seemingly forever. Clearly Aperture 2's release is forcing a response from Adobe. It should be clear which vendor is scrambling to catch up at this point.

I said it's ONE OF THE REASONS. It's clear that you make your choice according to what you need and what can REALLY offer you all the features you are looking for.

In addition, there are also other components like speed and so on. Both apps are fantastic, I've been using Aperture for a while and what led me to switch to Lightroom is described here: http://www.lucafiligheddu.com/2007/12/aperture-or-lightroom.html

I will give Aperture another try, but I am not willing to move from one to another continuously :-) In addition, I found great LR manuals from professional photographers, something more difficult to find (the good ones) for Aperture.
